Motherboard, graphics card and PC hardware repair

When an office desktop won't post, crashes under load or just can't keep up, we track down the failing part, replace or upgrade it, and test it properly. We also spec and build workstations and servers for our clients.

Diagnosing the failing part

A PC that won't start, restarts at random or crashes when it's working hard could be the power supply, the memory, the graphics card, the motherboard or something as simple as a loose cable. Guessing gets expensive. We test components one at a time and show you what failed before replacing anything.

Motherboards

No power, no display, beeping, failed ports, swollen capacitors, damage after a storm surge. We'll tell you whether replacing the board makes sense or whether it's time for a new build.

Graphics cards

Artifacts, black screens, driver crashes and overheating. Cleaning, re-pasting, replacement and upgrades for design and multi-monitor setups.

Power supplies

One of the most common failures after island power blips. A battery backup (UPS) afterwards stops it happening again.

Storage and memory

SSD upgrades, extra memory, failing drives replaced with your system moved over intact.

Upgrades that are worth it

For most older desktops, the upgrades that matter are an SSD (the biggest speed difference you'll feel), more memory, and occasionally a graphics card. We'll tell you when an upgrade is money well spent and when the rest of the machine is too old to justify it.

Find out what we'd fix first

A free assessment looks at your computers, network, email and backups, and tells you plainly what needs attention.

Custom workstations and servers

We've built high-end workstations and servers for years. Tell us what the machine needs to do, whether that's video editing, CAD, trading screens or a small office server, and we'll spec parts for the best performance for the budget, build it, test it under load and set it up ready to use.

Repair is part of our managed IT service. We repair computers for businesses on a managed IT plan, and we no longer take one-off repairs for home users. Clients: call (843) 422-2201 and we'll fix it over a remote session or on site.

Questions we get

Can a motherboard be repaired?

Usually a failed motherboard is replaced rather than repaired at the component level. We'll confirm it's really the board first, since power supplies and memory often cause the same symptoms.

Do you build custom PCs?

For our managed IT clients, yes. We spec, build and test workstations and servers, and set them up with your software and files.

Do you still repair computers for home users?

No. Computer repair is now a service for businesses on our managed IT plans, so it's handled as part of looking after your office.

My PC died after a storm. Is it the power supply?

Often, yes, but power surges can damage other parts too. We'll test the power supply and the components it feeds before recommending anything.

Tell us what's going on.

Call, or send a few lines about your business or your computer. You'll hear back from a person who can actually fix it.
